1. Business Concept
2. Infrastructures Ngoc Lan's processing plant utilize the advanced PCP-220 (Pressure Control Processing) to process agricultural, marine, and forestry products. The PCP-220 was designed and built using proprietary design and state-of-the-art technologies developed by CosmosLabs. PCP-220 can operate at <740mmHg in Vacuum Dry Processes (VDP) or at >200PSI in Pressurizing and Cooking Processes (PCP). The processing plant is located on a 400,000 sqft facility in Do Vinh, Phan Rang -Vietnam. This location has been chosen due to the abundant local resources including 20,000 square miles of agricultural and forestry land, 100 miles of coastal marine farms, a large low cost labor force, and is logistically located to take advantage of world wide transportation connections (20 miles from Cam Ranh port, 1/2 mile from main national railroad). Ngoc Lan is privately funded company with large
manufacturing plant and Research and Development laboratories supported
by CosmosLabs in the United States . Below is highlights of the facilities
and equipment:
The plant's daily production capacity is 80 Metric Tons (MT) Capacity: 4MT/cart x 10 carts/chamber x 2
chambers = 80 MT/shift 3. PCP-220 Applications For agricultural and marine products, dehydrating is a method of preservation that helps retain food enzymes and nutrients. The process removes enough water to prevent growth of bacteria, yeast and mold, and to prolong the shelf life. For forestry products, in order to utilize lumber for construction and industrial applications (i.e. furniture industry, wooden crafts, etc.), fresh cut lumber needs to be dried to eliminate moisture and organic bodies (i.e. insects and infective agents). For Pulp and Paper industry, PCP-220 has proven to be the most cost effective in cooking pulp using wood and non-wood materials such as bamboo and bassage. PCP-220 dehydrating and pressurizing processes provides the most economical and efficient method of dehydration and provides a competitive edge needed in today's global markets and in developing countries. Designed for low maintenance, fast turn around, and consistent quality, the PCP-220 plant is furnished with proprietary vacuum purge technology, with an energy efficient design that surpasses traditional electric, gas or solid fuel heating and drying methods. With its clean and no direct discharge operation,
PCP-220 vacuum dry technology is the most efficient way of delivering
healthy and environment friendly products to the consumer. 4. Development
The demands for dehydrated products increase with the constant growth of the world population. Traditional methods of drying goods are cost intensive, energy inefficient, and require expensive processing equipment. PCP-220 is a proven method to produce cost effective dehydrated products at record low processing time. The processing time for drying goods in chamber takes between 2 to 3 hours. The PCP-220 plant in Do Vinh is a business model to increase employment and business activities. Utilizing natural resources (forestry, marine, and agricultural products) from the local regions, the factory will transform these raw materials to finished goods for domestic market, and at the same time prepare for better quality products to supply to the international market place. The PCP-220 plant is a perfect solution to produce variety of products such as:
PCP-220 is based on high vacuum and high pressure technologies to provide fast and efficient method of processing compared to the disadvantages of the traditional and conventional methods described below. Traditional Method: Energy from the Sun
Conventional Method: Electric, Gas and Solid fuel Dryers/Burners
The first successful large-scale production utilizing the PCP-220 plant was the process of dehydrating Tapioca (manioca cassava) from the Ninh Thuan region whose estimated yield is 100,000 MT per annum. Tapioca by-products are suitable for Food, Textile, Paper, Pharmaceutical, Cosmetics, Adhesives, Rubber, Foam, Modified Starch, and Detergent industries. The PCP-220 dehydration process can be summarized as follows :
Utilizing the high pressure feature of the PCP-220, wood and non-wood chip materials were cooked at high pressure in the chamber. The cooking process evaporates large portion of water in discard liquid. This helps to reduce the cost of refinery. Excellent color and low K factor pulp is over-whelmingly received by local paper factories. The quality is far exceeded in comparison to mechanical/thermomechanical pulp. 20MT batch process can be completed within one 8 hr shift. This translates to normal daily production of 80 MT. 9.
